Background of B0957-hIgG1

Hepatocyte growth factor receptor (HGFR), also known as Met, encodes a heterodimeric (alpha, beta) tyrosine kinase receptor. Activation of the signaling cascade occurs when c-MET binds to its ligand, hepatocyte growth factor (HGF). The c-MET/HGF signaling pathway is involved in multiple key biological processes, including the ability of cells to proliferate and migrate, angiogenesis, and the epithelium-mesenchyme transition. In CRC, as in other types of neoplasms, abnormal expression of c-MET has been associated with tumors with high cell proliferation rate, cell dissociation, tumor aggressiveness, invasiveness and, ultimately, worse prognosis.
