Background of SWA11-hIgG1

CD24 is a highly glycosylated protein that is linked to the membrane via glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchor and is often highly expressed in carcinomas and correlates with poor prognosis. SWA11-hIgG1-CD24, is a recombinant IgG1 kappa, human monoclonal antibody produced in CHO cell culture, which selectively binds with high affinity to the extracellular domain of CD24 protein and can efficiently retard the growth of lung and ovarian carcinoma xenografts. Importantly, SWA11-hIgG1-CD24 treatment strongly influenced intratumoural cytokine milieu and increased infiltration of tumour tissue by macrophages.
