Background of GK1.5-mIgG2a

GK1.5 is a mIgG2a mAb that recognizes the mouse CD4 Ag. The CD4 antigen is a membrane glycoprotein that belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is found on the cell surface and has a molecular weight of 55 kDa. CD4 acts as a co-receptor, working together with the T cell receptor (TCR) to interact with class II MHC molecules presented by antigen presenting cells (APC). It is expressed on the majority of thymocytes, most helper T cells, a subset of NK-T cells, and to a lesser extent, on dendritic cells and macrophages. CD4 plays a crucial role in the development and optimal functioning of mature T cells.
