Background of JNJ372-Met-hIgG1

JNJ372-Met-hlgG1, a high affinity-specific humanized IgG1 antibody against HGFR. HGFR also known as the only high affinity receptor for hepatocyte growth factor, plays vital physiological functions during embryogenesis, angiogenesis, and repair processes.Under malignant conditions, the interaction between HGF and cMET triggers an intricate system of downstream mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)/ERK and PI3K/AKT signaling cascades, thus resulting in uncontrolled cell proliferation, epithelial‐ mesenchymal transition (EMT) and metastatic spread. Antibodies to HGFR are used in humans as targeted therapies for a variety of cancers that included patients with bladder cancer, hepatocellular cancer and nonsmall cell lung cancer.
